Signalling

Our signalbox was originally built in 1901 at Honing Station in North Norfolk, on the M&GN line between Great Yarmouth and North Walsham.

In 1959 the M&GN line closed and the box lay dormant and this part of the route is now better known as the Weavers' Way.

In 1967 the box was purchased for the grand sum of £5 and a small team of BHR volunteers carefully dismantled it, numbering every piece! It was then re-built at BHR and in 2007 we celebrated 40 years of it being on site.

The Honing East signalbox is not just there to look impressive - it is key to the safe running of the railways at BHR. Why not visit to see all the signals being operated, including the tablet system.
